A WRITING MILESTONE
Last Saturday (12/07/2024) I finished the initial draft for the entire manuscript of my Post Apocalypse Science Fiction novel, Legacy of the Ancients.
This is a major milestone for me, and I have to make note of it. I have worked for too-many years on this novel (which is a sequel to Power of the Ancients), running it through my writers group for critique the whole time. Now, I have a complete draft of some 15000 words to revise and polish to publication. Hopefully, that publication can happen early in 2025.
Writing a novel is a long process (usually) and much work. With the completion of this novel, I’ll have two out there on Amazon. I will also, very soon, revise Power of the Ancients (fixing some minor issues) and create a hard-cover version (using Amazon’s facility for that). I also want to add some illustrations—mostly maps.
My goal is to make reading my Dentville saga an enjoyable experience. If it is for enough readers, it could lead to who-knows-where. I’ve considered supplemental material, audio excerpts, more illustrations, and such. Maybe a script or web-novel. We’ll see.
My big goal beyond Dentville, is to get into series fiction. This will entail storytelling with a television series feel. The stories will presented on a platform designed for series, such as Wattpad and Kindle Vella.
As I pull all this together, I will keep up my Substack. Most of my posts will likely be updates similar to this one, or whatever strikes me as needed by me and worthwhile to you. Hopefully, they won’t be terribly self-indulgent, but will at least offer entertainment to my followers.
There is, however, very much happening in the world right now. I suspect, this year will be a watershed in the history of humanity. I expect I will make some comments on what’s happening in current events, but my intention is not political commentary. Probably, I will recommend others for that.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know what I’ve done and what I’m doing. If I can keep my morale up, meditate, and stay healthy, I should accomplish something. You are invited to come along with me, and make it a fun ride.
